A New Man Abuse Prevention Program

We offer a weekly group intervention program in both Portland and Vancouver for men who identify with a Christian faith and are seeking to overcome physically and/or verbally abusive and controlling behaviors. Our program is designed to address the power and control issues that are the root causes of domestic violence, abuse, and typical male aggression. The psycho-educational group setting is a combination of written curriculum and group process. We focus primarily upon men taking personal responsibility for their abusive and/or controlling behaviors. We also explore underlying and contributing personal, societal, and cultural factors, particularly those in traditional, Christian faith communities. We are able to serve church and self-referred, as well as court-mandated individuals.

“A New Man” in our program will learn to implement respectful, egalitarian, and non-violent skills and strategies for appropriate emotional expression, problem solving, and relationship building. Victim safety and confidentiality are top priorities throughout the intervention or treatment period.

An hour-and-a-half individual Intake/Assessment and orientation is required prior to enrollment in group treatment. Those clients who have successfully completed the program may voluntarily attend further group meetings for a reduced fee.
