I have enjoyed being part of my home church's Care Team Ministry, helping those with physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. I have also enjoyed leading support groups for those affected by their partner's sexual addiction and sexual betrayal. I help partners understand the complexities of sexual addiction and its root causes, as well as helping them find hope and healing from the trauma of the disclosure of sexual betrayal.
As an intern, I counseled at the Joint Base Lewis/McCord Family Life Center Chaplaincy Division. During this time, I was privileged to work together with clients desiring help with marriage and family issues, depression, anxiety, post-trauma recovery, suicidal thoughts, domestic violence, and crisis intervention. I have also counseled, as an intern at the Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center. I was able to work with those struggling with addition. Working with clients to understand recovery motivation and together identify and heal from the trauma and attachment experiences that often underlie using substances to cope with difficult emotions.
I use an integrated approach to counseling. I draw from theories that address family of origin and early attachment issues, life experiences through developmental stages as well as theories that address current ways of thinking, feeling and relating. I would like to form a caring, helpful, curious, and healing partnership to work together with my clients on their concerns and personal goals.
