Sara recently graduated from Western Seminary with her Master of Arts in Counseling. She also completed a year of coursework in the Marriage and Family Therapy program at Seattle Pacific University, prior to transferring to Western Seminary for the completion of her degree. She is registered in the state of Washington as a Mental Health Counselor Associate, working toward licensure as a Mental Health Counselor (LMHC).
Her experience includes counseling college students at Warner Pacific College in the Caldwell House Counseling Center, and working with children, adolescents, adults, and couples at Open House Ministries, a homeless shelter for families in transition. Sara is also a member of the American Counseling Association. In addition to the counseling work she has done in these settings, she finds a great deal of fulfillment in volunteering as a youth staff member with the high school students at her local church. Her experience with a broad range in population has given her a deep sense of compassion for individuals in all situations and phases of life, and a desire to come alongside people in pain and provide hope, affirmation, and motivation for change.
Sara’s specialization includes counseling adolescents and adults for a variety of issues such as depression, anxiety, identity formation, relationship difficulties, grief and loss, faith and spiritual growth, healing from abuse, body image, and life transitions.
In her current practice at A New Life Christian Counseling, Sara is available to work with a variety of individuals or couples, regardless of their particular faith perspective. She is very comfortable if faith and spirituality become a part of the therapeutic process. She also respects the decision of those who do not wish to discuss this aspect of their lives. Sara’s passion is to help people seek growth and change in their life, and ultimately find healing for the painful and troubling circumstance, crisis, or dilemma that has brought them into counseling. The decision to enter counseling requires courage and hard work, and Sara looks forward with anticipation to helping people in their journey toward wholeness.
